Paco Jemez believes that Rayo Vallecano must watch out for Real Sociedad’s speed and precision from midfield, if they are to consider a win this weekend.
Rayo travel out to Anoeta for the Monday night fixture six places and three points ahead of Philippe Montanier’s men, but as Jemez made clear today, much respect for their rivals.
“When you face the Real, the midfield draws attention with the speed that they have,” commented the Coach at his pre-match Press conference.
“If you combine this with the quality they have, then they have an important weapon that can hurt us and we will have to manage well the area where they will look for the final pass, because it will be difficult to counter, otherwise.
“Also, it will be a tough fight for possession and that no matter how fast they are, if they do not have the ball then they cannot do us any damage.
“They have a team that I believe can be a lot higher in the table than they currently are, they are competitive, good, balanced and have some big names.”
A win, coupled with results elsewhere, could move Rayo into fifth or sixth place at the end of play in Week 12.
“What we have to do is try to win and if it gets us in the Europa League positions then it is deserved for the steps we are taking week by week.”
