Pochettino: I have a contract, but..

Espanyol boss Mauricio Pochettino does not believe tomorrow's encounter with Valencia is decisive with regard to his future.

The Argentine is under ever increasing pressure with his side second from bottom in La Liga and reeling from an embarrassing 3-0 loss to Osasuna.

“This game will not decide anyone's future,” he insisted at his pre-match Press conference. “But we depend on results, we must accept that. During this time we have worked with great enthusiasm and integrity. I have a contract, but we all know how football is.”

Pochettino acknowledges that the forthcoming presidential elections at the club do not provide the ideal backdrop.

“It's not the best way for laying the foundations of football but this cannot be an excuse for not getting results. I don't have strong feelings on any of the candidates, I respect all three.”

The 40-year-old rounded things off with an assessment of tomorrow's game.

“We must be united and work for a common goal. If we get the three points it would be a major morale boost, because it's a difficult clash against a team with good players.”
