Castro longs to score vs. Sevilla

Real Betis striker Ruben Castro has never scored against Sevilla and is desperate to break his duck in Sunday's Seville derby.

Castro, who has netted five goals in ten games this season, will spearhead the Verdiblancos attack at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

“They are one of the few teams I haven't scored against and I really want to because it's the derby” the 31-year-old told Marca.

“I hope on Sunday I score and the team wins. I have a great desire, if I had to choose a game to score in, rather than Real Madrid or Barcelona, I would choose Sevilla.”

Castro has played in a Canary Islands derby between Tenerife and Las Palmas but doesn't think it bears comparison to the Andalusian affair.

“This is much more exciting. In Seville we live football, and both teams are from the same city, whereas Tenerife and Las Palmas are from different islands. The derbies are special here, more intense, there is nothing else in the week building up to it.”

Castro has plenty of respect for the prowess of his opposite number Alvaro Negredo.

“We all know Negredo. For me he is a great striker, very complete. They say he sometimes fails, but he's scored seven goals. It's a matter of good and bad runs.”
