Atletico Madrid are chasing Osasuna goalkeeper Andres Fernandez, reports AS.
Current incumbent Thibaut Courtois seems certain to return to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season, when he will more than likely be loaned out to another Premier League club, and Los Rojiblancos are now making plans to cover his loss.
On the agenda is 25-year-old Fernandez, who let in the least number of goals in La Segunda last term when he was on loan at Huesca, with Atleti director of football Jose Luis Caminero seeking somebody who can go head-to-head with Sergio Asenjo for the No 1 jersey at the Vicente Calderon.
Other names to have emerged are Sporting Lisbon’s Rui Patricio and Atletico youth team ‘keeper Yassine Bounou, whose contract contains a clause that he must be promoted to the senior squad next season.
Third choice stopper Joel Robles has not been included in boss Diego Simeone’s plans for this season and is understood to be eyeing a move in the winter transfer market.
