Penedo: Spain difficult to face

Panama goalkeeper Jaime Penedo acknowledged it was difficult to play against Spain following their 5-1 thrashing on Wednesday.

Penedo pulled off some smart saves against Vicente del Bosque’s men, although he confessed he was not happy to have conceded so many goals to the reigning World and European champions.

“In truth, for a ‘keeper to let in five is not very pleasing but the Spanish players have so many weapons and so much strength that they are difficult to play against,” he told reporters directly after the game.

“It was a game of two halves as in the first it was more like going toe-to-toe with them, but in the second Spain showed their superiority.

“Even so, it was good experience for us and we just have to keep on working hard,” he declared.
