Del Bosque happy with Spain commitment

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque said he was happy with the commitment shown by his players in the 5-1 thrashing of Panama.

A Pedro brace and goals from David Villa, Sergio Ramos and Markel Susaeta saw Spain ease to a comfortable victory over the Central Americans and Del Bosque was pleased with what he saw.

“The players took it seriously and demonstrated commitment to the Spanish shirt,” he told COPE afterwards.

“These are the toughest games to play in when the obligation is to win easily, although we would have taken it seriously regardless of the opposition, so I’m happy.”

The 61-year-old praised his players’ work ethic and made special mention of debutant Markel Susaeta.

“We worked hard to make it easier for ourselves and weakened our opponent. We brought players such as Susaeta, who represents some of those that could have been here but weren’t because of the quality of the players we already have.”

Del Bosque also announced he would be casting his vote for this year’s Ballon d’Or on Thursday.

“I’ll be making my choice and afterwards it’s up to FIFA if they want to make it public,” he revealed, before admitting there would ‘certainly’ be Spanish players on his list.
