Casillas ‘satisfied’ with La Roja display

Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas said he was satisfied with La Roja’s display in the 5-1 stroll over Panama on Wednesday.

Casillas, who came on as a second-half substitute for Victor Valdes, also said he did not feel bad about conceding a goal to Gabriel Gomez three minutes from time which the Panamanian dispatched ‘Panenka-style’.

“I’m satisfied with our performance and Gomez took his goal really well. It was great and I hope he enjoyed it. The Panamanians are wonderful people,” he told gathered media after the crowd had celebrated Gomez’s penalty as if they had won the game.

In addition, Jesus Navas, who also appeared as a replacement after the break, said that ‘the team worked well and we came here with a great attitude, so we are proud to have come away victorious’.
