Verdu admits to poor form

Espanyol midfielder Joan Verdu has admitted that 'something has to be done' about the club's poor start to the season.

The Periquitos have won just two of their first 11 League games, as well as going down 3-0 to bottom side Osasuna on Saturday.

And the 29-year-old has conceded that the recent form has not been good enough.

“We are all aware of the difficulties we've been going through,” he told AS. “But we really want to work together to get through this.

“The players are the first to recognise that something has to be done.

“We just have to concentrate on the next game [against Valencia] and try to get some points.”

He also commented on the uncertain situation surrounding the club's hierarchy, with presidential elections due on November 19.

“All this does not help anyone,” he said. “This environment has definitely been an influence on us.”
