Pellegrino: It wasn’t a penalty

Mauricio Pellegrino believes that today’s result between Real Valladolid and his Valencia swung on the second half penalty decision.

Los Che were comfortably leading and had just had a second goal ruled out for offside on the hour mark when Omar Ramos was felled in their penalty box by Aly Cissokho when through on goal.

The French defender was sent off and Victor Perez converted the spot-kick to earn the home side a share of the spoils, unfairly so, according to Pellegrino.

“We are not happy with the result because we wanted to win,” declared the Argentine after today’s result.

“It was not a penalty, Omar hit the ground when he saw that Valencia were going to regain the ball.

“The match totally changed with Cissokho’s red card, but for the final eight minutes we still regained control of it. Overall the game was even and they had not had many chances.

“We were organised, but lacked the freshness to subdue Valladolid.”
