Anquela: My ambition remains

Juan Antonio Anquela says that his aspirations to progress with Granada remain intact, despite a poor run of form and a tricky trip to Real Betis coming up.

The Coach followed up a week of speculation about his future as Coach of the club with a home defeat to Athletic Bilbao.

Even with the side slipping to 19th in the table as a result, Anquela is adamant that he is still intending to push on.

“My aspirations are intact and my players remain at a good level,” commented the Coach to today’s assembled media.

“All games are important to us, but we will try to change this streak. We’ve lost three games and we have slipped down the table.”

The first attempt to break the streak comes on Friday night with a trip to Sevilla to face Real Betis.

“It will be very difficult, for we are facing a team that is playing good football, they are fourth and they have much strength.

“They have achieved their objectives recently because they are a team that works. They are good in all aspects.”

Anquela and his staff have been forced to spend the week’s preparations training the players on artificial grass, in light of the recent rains in Andalucia damaging all possible natural grass training pitches.

“This week we have been uncomfortable about having to go on to the artificial turf, but we are grateful that it was provided to us. Even so, it’s an excuse. This is what we have and we have to adapt.”
