Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has admitted that the team's performance against Real Zaragoza was not the best.
Goals from Gonzalo Higuain, Angel Di Maria, Michael Essien and Luka Modric gave Los Blancos a 4-0 win, but the former Liverpool man has conceded that they were unconvincing throughout the game.
“We took our foot off the gas,” he told reporters after the game. “We've had a lot of game recently and we were a little tired.”
He also commented on the recent controversy surrounding the club's lack of youth talent coming through the ranks.
“The Madrid fans want their team to win,” he said. They don't want there to be 10 homegrown players and finish third in the League.”
