Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone felt the 3-0 Copa del Rey victory at Real Jaen was not as clear-cut as the scoreline suggests.
A first-half penalty from Diego Costa got Los Rojiblancos on their way before goals from Adrian Lopez and Raul Garcia wrapped things up.
However, Simeone insisted the scoreline flattered the in-form Madrid side despite the hosts having Dani Torres sent off for the handball that led to Diego Costa’s spot-kick.
“Real Jaen created problems for us at the beginning of each half because they played with determination and have some good players,” the Argentine told reporters afterwards.
“They were opponents we knew well and it was not as easy as the scoreline indicates.
“As for the penalty, I was too far away and did not see anything, but we must respect the decision of the referee.”
