France Coach Didier Deschamps says that the recent draw with Spain has helped his side get the French public back on side.
Olivier Giroud scored a late equaliser to give Les Bleus a 1-1 draw with La Roja at the Vicente Calderon two weeks ago.
“The result allowed us to regain the support of the French public,” the former Juventus and Marseille boss told Le Figaro.
“I asked the players to avoid regrets. I'm very pleased that we created so many problems for a team that has won the last three international tournaments.
“We were not the best or the worst in the world before the game, and that remains so. But our performance against Spain gives us hope.”
France are level on points with Spain at the top of World Cup qualification Group I. The return fixture takes place in March next year.
