Segunda Division B outfit Alaves will face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey this Tuesday with the intention of winning, says their Coach.
The former UEFA Cup finalists, who have fallen to two divisions below Barca, welcome the current Primera leaders this midweek for the first leg tie in the Round of 32 of the Spanish Cup.
It is the first meeting between the teams since a January 2007 Cup tie [pictured] that Barca won 5-2 on aggregate.
For their Coach Natxo Gonzalez, ambition is about more than saving face against the resounding favourites for the game.
“Against an opponent like this, we cannot enjoy it. If we go into it intending to enjoy ourselves against Barca, you will get hit for 10,” he warned his players when talking to the Press today.
“We have to take to the field ready to win. I am convinced that we can do this and my mission is to convey this conviction to the players so that they believe it also, whilst always knowing that it will be very difficult.”
