‘La Real shouldn’t panic yet’

Enaut Zubikarai has identified Real Sociedad’s recent weakness but asks that nobody panics for their form just yet.

La Real have lost their last two games to make it five defeats in total from the opening eight rounds. Despite facing a trip to Real Valladolid this Monday still without a point on their travels, the Basques should not be panicking, says their stand-in No 1.

“It is not an unusual situation, there is no pressure on us this weekend, but it is better to break the dynamic away from home. Such a run can take its toll, but it is still too early,” Zubikarai told reporters today.

“We come into this game from two losses by three goals from isolated set-pieces, two down to general forgetfulness against Betis and the other down to Falcao’s great action for Atletico Madrid.

“Falcao fully merited that goal. I had several players in front and I could not see the ball until it had passed the wall. I did not have time to react. We’ve lost these last two games for such details.”

In response, the ‘keeper says that he and his teammates have been studying the details so as to get a result at the Jose Zorilla this Monday.

“We have studied greatly how to play Real Valladolid. They are a very attacking team when playing at home. They will have many chances to score.

“We must be strong from set-pieces and be very careful when losing possession. We must seize our own chances and harm them on the counter-attack.”
