Atletico Madrid have launched a campaign to drive up support for their striker Radamel Falcao to win the Ballon d’Or.
The Colombian has been in strong form during the calendar year of 2012 and is on a hot goalscoring run for the team at the moment.
The club believe he is a strong enough candidate to challenge Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Iker Casillas for the award this year and have shown their support with a video campaign.
The short film shows road signs posted around the Calderon that warn of a ‘tiger on the loose’ during Atleti’s home games. With the slogan ‘Un Tigre de Oro’, the club have also introduced a Twitter hashtag to involve fans and demonstrate their support for the forward.
The player has already responded to the campaign via his Twitter account, thanking his club and teammates for their support.
