Vilanova appreciates Rayo style

Barcelona Coach Tito Vilanova has described tomorrow's opponents Rayo Vallecano as 'tough' and 'daring'.

Rayo boss Paco Jemez today said he would be embarrassed to play as defensively as Celtic did against the Blaugrana on Tuesday, and Vilanova acknowledges the Madrid outfit's attacking style.

“As you say, going to Rayo is complicated. Last year we got a good result, but it's usually one of the toughest outings we have. They're a daring team, one that does not give you time to think.”

The former Celta Vigo midfielder is without Javier Mascherano for the visit to Vallecas, whilst fulback Dani Alves continues his recovery from injury.

“We suspected Mascherano would be banned. I think we need to assess Dani longer term. He had some physical discomfort and could not perform at the level we know. He has been training really well.”

Vilanova has now been in charge of the Catalan giants for 100 days but isn't paying too much attention to the landmark.

“It doesn't matter whether its 100 or 200 days, the players are training well. The important thing for me is to win titles and have a relationship of trust with the players.”
