Xabi Prieto not dwelling on defeat

Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Prieto has called for his teammates to forget last weekend's home loss to Atletico Madrid.

The Erreala lost 1-0 to Diego Simeone's side after a last-minute free kick from Radamel Falcao, which ended their 100 per cent home record for the season.

But the 29-year-old has asked for his team not to dwell on the loss and focus purely on the games to come.

“We knew we weren't going to win every game at Anoeta,” he told terra.es. “But it does hurt thinking about the game, we deserved more and played a good game with lots of positive moments.

“It is going to be an important week for us going forward. The Copa del Rey begins, and we play Real Valladolid and Espanyol. Hopefully in these games the team will step forward and we will see some good results.”

He also commented on the team's recent goal-draught and his own personal performances this season.

“In the last two games we have not done well, and it's an area we have to improve upon,” he said. “There have been occasions where we have lacked efficiency and accuracy, but I am not overly concerned.

“I feel I have played well. Against Atletico I played a good game,” he added.
