Cejudo urges Osasuna calm

Alvaro Cejudo is not panicking about Osasuna’s current League position, commenting that bottom of the table in October is only ‘anecdotal’.

Los Rojillos slipped to last place last weekend after drawing with Real Betis and seeing Espanyol win against Rayo Vallecano.

However, going into this weekend, Osasuna cannot afford to let the position of 20th weigh the team down, says Cejudo.

“Within a range of five points there are many teams. Being last now is anecdotal, but we still must all serve to push a little more,” the midfielder told reporters today.

“The situation is not easy, but we have to pull in the same direction to break this losing streak. We are the bottom club and you have to face it calmly. The pressure is on us but we must not think about what is not being done well.

“We are not finished yet. I hope it is a matter of creating a good dynamic and winning a couple of games. We each have to give a little more. The situation is difficult, we’re down there, so we have to give our maximum this week to break this slump.”

This week, however, sees the team try to break that slump away on Sunday to an unbeaten Atletico Madrid.

“It will be very difficult. It must be a very serious game from us. They are a great team and are in very good form. We have to go there without fear and play without complexity.

“We are preparing for a very difficult game, but there must be belief in what we are doing. If we work well and start so from the beginning, we can get something.

“They are very good and have a lot of quality, more than just [Radamel] Falcao. They are in top form and we will have to be switched on to do things pretty well.”
