Zidane learned from Mourinho

Zinedine Zidane has admitted he learnt a lot from Jose Mourinho during his time as Real Madrid’s sporting director.

The French legend recently left his post to pursue a new episode in his professional career as he looks to qualify as a Coach in his own right and, in an interview with Sport365, Zidane also declared he has never had a problem with the Portuguese boss.

“At Real I learnt what it is like to be inside a big club but my passion is to be involved in the day to day activities on the pitch. That is why I have come to France, so I can continue to learn,” he said.

“I’ve never had a problem with Mourinho. On the contrary, I learned a lot from him and now I’m learning to become a good football Coach.

“I think the way to do that these days is to be capable of managing the dressing room. That’s crucial. I want to coach France one day, which is the dream of any citizen of this country, but that’s a long way off.”

Zidane added that he was still hopeful Los Blancos can catch Barcelona at the top of La Liga despite the Catalans holding an eight-point advantage.

“Madrid are not inferior to Barcelona right now and they deserved to have won at the Camp Nou, particularly in the first half,” he concluded.
