Pellegrino undaunted by BATE

Valencia Coach Mauricio Pellegrino was in decidedly bullish mood at his press conference for tomorrow night's game versus BATE Borisov.

Los Che are in Minsk for their first ever meeting with Belarusian opposition, charged with hauling back runaway success BATE Borisov, who top Champions League Group F after shock wins over Lille and Bayern Munich.

“I'm just thinking of our team,” 'El Flaco' declared. “The teams that have won the games have deserved to. Luckily, the football field always puts everyone in their place.

“I will choose the best eleven and can guarantee we will compete. We are Valencia, and with our quality and our weapons, we to have take the game forward.”

Pellegrino was asked for updates on the conditions of Nelson Valdez, Jeremy Mathieu and 'keeper Vicente Guaita, who has gastroenteritis and reportedly vomited upon arrival at the airport.

“I don't know why Guaita had this nausea after the trip. We'll wait and see how it evolves in the coming hours.

“Mathieu is in pain. Hopefully he can recover from his ailment. Valdez suffered a little overload on his hamstring and was withdrawn from training. We believe he can improve in 24 hours so we have brought him.”

The Argentine preferred not to say whether there were any BATE players he'd like in his side.

“They are a very well balanced team and have some interesting players, some better known, like Aleksandar Hleb. But now is not the time to talk about players I'd like to have.”

Valencia are aiming for a first away win in all competitions since March 18.
