Gavilan: Season-defining for Getafe

Jaime Gavilan is hopeful that Getafe can beat Levante tomorrow, for he sees the game as significant to his side’s entire season.

Getafe spent the October international break in mid-table and off the back of two successive wins in La Liga and for Gavilan, the test is about to begin.

“Now comes a very tight schedule. Let’s see what we have in the armoury,” reflected the midfielder to the Press today.

“We have the Cup, the League and I think it will cost a lot to play and progress in both. What we want is that the team benefits. We are on consecutive wins and we will seek a third to put us in a very interesting position in the table.

“A win would help us move forward, in a very comfortable situation, with our sites on an interesting future in the Copa del Rey, which comes up fast.

“We have already faced the big names in the first part of the season, the game tomorrow will signify much of what Getafe can achieve this season.

“Hopefully we can pick up three points to allow us to then play with much more confidence and without pressure.”

Tomorrow’s test is the lunchtime visit of Levante, who are level on points with the Madrid club.

“They are experienced and professional. The arrival of [Obafemi] Martins has added speed to the team, and you can see the quality of the side.

“Last year we played several games at the midday time. We have trained every day at 11am and our bodies are adapted. Instead of breakfast we have eaten pasta at 9am and you adapt to whatever is needed.”
