Espanyol ‘want to play and win’

Victor Sanchez has reiterated Espanyol’s desire to make the most of consecutive home matches and says the players are eager to play once more.

Los Pericos are currently propping up the table on two points after a disastrous start to the League campaign.

However, Sanchez believes that the team are ready to pick up a first win of the season next weekend at home to Rayo Vallecano, and then a further three points the following weekend at home to Malaga.

“We want the fans to be proud of the players. We do not feel pressurised, we want to pick up only three points and then three more,” he told reporters today.

“We are not thinking further than the Rayo game. We know it is a game that is very, very, very important. Regarding the clash, we’ll see at the end what has happened. We want to play again after this international break because we go into the Rayo match off the back of a draw.

“We do not have time to think about what is happening in the club [with Presidential elections due in the coming weeks], we want to just pick up the points.”
