Pedro happy to move aside

Pedro Rodriguez says he is happy to play wherever and whenever Vicente del Bosque wishes him for Spain.

The Barcelona man has scored five goals in his last two starts for La Roja, but may find himself on the bench or moved position on Tuesday with one of Fernando Torres and David Villa in place of him in attack.

Even after his hat-trick against Belarus on Friday, the winger is content to move to one side.

“They are great players, I’m happy for the goals I scored, to contribute and to play again with the team,” he told the Spanish Football Federation’s official website.

“There are players like Torres, Andres Iniesta…who are very experienced and I am only trying to take advantage of the opportunities that come my way, the Coach can count on me.

“I see Villa as very happy, training hard, with enthusiasm and confidence, he will soon be at his best. He is a perfect player in the area and one of the best strikers in the world and he brings many things to the team.

“It was my first hat-trick, it all went well, we did a good job, we got three important points. I’ll keep this with other memories I am fortunate enough to pick up with my teammates.”

Pedro briefly discussed the game with France on Tuesday and on the flexibility of Spain to play more than one formation.

“It is a game that is very important to us, it will be very difficult. They are a great team with players of much importance like Ribery and Benzema.

“We are lucky that we have players who can adapt. At the moment we are acting with a false 9, leaving more room at the end of the pitch.

“When the No 9 is fixed in place, other parts of the pitch are more open. We have our philosophy and ideas that are very clear and not much affects the style of play for La Seleccion.”
