Pedro Rodriguez celebrated his hat-trick for Spain last night and urged the team to take this form into next week’s test with France.
The 25-year-old netted a treble of similarly dinked finishes away to Belarus in a convincing 4-0 win for La Roja in their second UEFA Group I qualifying match.
Imperious throughout, the winger reflected on the necessity that the team felt in winning this match.
“We knew that we could not fail, these were important points and we are pleased they have been achieved. The group is tight and difficult and you must drop as few points as possible along the way,” reflected the Barcelona man, who then spoke of his hat-trick.
“You have to also be lucky when playing in front of goal, in this case I scored smoothly and I’m happy because I helped the team to win the game.
“[Next Tuesday’s opponents] France are a dangerous team with many important players. With how they play, they are going to be very difficult.
“We want to continue our run of victories and that would be good for us. We’ve been really good in this game and want to follow on from that.”
