Alba: The goal still counts!

Jordi Alba shrugged off that replays suggested his goal for Spain last night was offside, reflecting only that he is in a good place right now.

The former Valencia man was found by his Barcelona teammate Pedro Rodriguez yesterday with a backheel, before rounding the goalkeeper to give Spain an early lead in their eventual 4-0 win over Belarus.

Replays highlighted that the full-back’s second international goal had been scored from an offside position, but post-match he did not regret that.

“It was a very good team move. It was phenomenal that Pedro saw me, provided me with the backheel, I was able to get to it and score with the right. I’m very happy for the goal,” the Barcelona wing-back enthused.

“I don’t care that it was offside. I have scored the goal and that is what counts.

“I’m happy with how things are going and I always like to score. I’m comfortable both with Spain and Barcelona. I have had no rest but in the last few games I have felt good again.”
