Danish job not done for Lopetegui

Spain Under-21 boss Julen Lopetegui refuses to concede the job is done after the 5-0 thrashing of Denmark in Burgos.

The first-leg play-off victory over the Danes means Lopetegui’s youngsters should make Tuesday’s return in Aarhus a formality, but the 46-year-old is not getting carried away.

“It was a very good result but there is still a game to be played. It would be a mistake to believe that we have already qualified,” he told assembled reporters at El Plantio Stadium.

“The Danes play good football and had their share of the ball in the opening exchanges, when they created some danger, but I have to praise our attitude and intensity when we lost it.

“Our defensive work was fantastic and we took lots of risks in trying to win the ball back further up the pitch despite having some doubts at the start of the match.”
