Baena confident of Espanyol reaction

Espanyol midfielder Raul Baena is confident his Espanyol team can climb off the bottom of the table in the next few weeks.

Baena [pictured, right] has not played this season since fracturing a metatarsal bone is his left foot during a friendly against Real Zaragoza on August 11, yet having been a reluctant spectator he feels it will not be long before Mauricio Pochettino’s men get their season back on track.

Having spent three days training with the rest of the squad this week, the 23-year-old is looking forward to a return to action.

“I feel good. I’ve had a good response and I’m eager to help the team,” Baena told Mundo Deportivo.

“I’ve spent a nervous time watching and the only thing I was able to do was support the team, but I think we should have more points than we have.

“It’s a difficult situation and I’m sure we’ll come through it because this team has shown it has a lot of things going for it.

“The dressing room is united and committed so we are keen to beat Rayo Vallecano in our next game to bring our supporters some joy,” he added.
