Gerard Pique will face a late assessment from medical staff today before knowing for definite if he can feature in Barcelona’s clash with Real Madrid.
The Catalans host their Madrid rivals at Camp Nou on Sunday evening and could welcome centre-back Pique back into the side.
The defender has been in a race to prove his fitness to Tito Vilanova, after returning to full training late in the week after recovering from a sprained foot sustained in September against Spartak Moscow.
Pique took a full part in the Saturday evening session, which as Sport suggests, is an indication that he is likely to start against Real.
The Spaniard, who has been left out of Vicente del Bosque’s latest squad for World Cup qualifying this week, has a noon training workout with his Barca teammates to get through, before it is believed Vilanova and the medical staff will meet to assess his condition and availability for the Clasico.
