Anderlecht aiming to beat Malaga

Anderlecht will be targeting a win against Malaga tomorrow night, as their Coach reveals a potential weakness to the Spaniards.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men currently top Group C after matchday one, after defeating Zenit St Petersburg 3-0.

However, John van den Brom says that his Belgian outfit are also worthy of respect heading into Wednesday’s meeting at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium.

“We are not afraid, we have respect,” the Coach told reporters at today’s Press conference.

“Malaga have started the League very well and they produced a fantastic performance against Zenit, but we also started off very well against Milan [with a 0-0 draw at San Siro]. We have to prepare well to win.

“Malaga’s defence is very strong, their players are good and they also have some who can make a difference. They have many young and talented players too.

“We will adapt to their game and take advantage of playing the game at home. We are very experienced and mature.”

Van den Brom also opened up by suggesting that he anticipates Malaga backing off Anderlecht for passages of play during the game.

“It remains to be seen who will have the ball, because I saw their game at Athletic and the possession was 50-50.

“Malaga sometimes leaves the game to the opponent, allowing them to create opportunities.”
