The board of bottom club Espanyol have unanimously voted to retain the services of Coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The Parakeets' 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid last night capped off their worst ever start to a La Liga season. Pochettino's side have drawn one and lost five of their fixtures so far and are already four points adrift of safety.
“We reiterate our full confidence in Pochettino and his coaching staff,” said spokesman Rafael Entrana, who stressed that the Argentine would remain even if Espanyol lost again next weekend.
“We are confident that he is fully able to overcome this situation. All directors are agreed. There has been a very intense debate, and we are sensitive to the fans frustration. We want to build an Espanyol which everyone can be proud of.”
