‘Granada must enjoy this’

Juan Antonio Anquela was overjoyed at picking up a first win as Granada Coach today, even if he admitted the team have ‘much to improve upon’.

The Andalucians defeated Celta Vigo 2-1 in the lunchtime kick-off, much to the relief of Anquela, who afterwards reflected on the effort it took for the players to conquer their nerves.

“We scored a goal and then all the fears and ghosts have appeared that do when you do not have the points that you need,” he reflected afterwards.

“Today football has returned something to us that we had lost on other days, it takes everything to win, you have to enjoy these three points.

“We needed to pick up the points and we did so. Now, everybody is happy. We want to play better, but it is important to get the three points first.

“If we think that in the Primera Division we can win a game without suffering, then we would be wrong.

“The team did quite well, but all of a sudden panicked and we had to do things as a team just for the good of the team, with the result to preserve and defend.

“We have much to improve upon, we have lacked attitude, we have to be more of a team still, but we would not have won with no-one.

“If the players cannot find enough personality playing in front of these fans then they should be doing something else.”
