Bartra relaxed on Barca chances

Marc Bartra has downplayed not getting an appearance against Granada at the weekend, insisting that he remains determined to break into the team.

Speculation in the build-up to the Catalans’ weekend match with the Andalucians had many believeing that Bartra was in line for a starting berth in the centre of defence, in light of injuries to Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique.

However, Tito Vilanova opted to play midfielder Alex Song alongside Javier Mascherano, for a decision that Bartra insists he is not deterred by.

“I am relaxed, I know where I am, in one of the best teams in the world and that nothing is easy,” he told reporters today.

“What I have to do is react, train harder and I know then that the minutes will arrive.

“Song is a great player who fits in well as a centre-back, at Arsenal he showed this, he can take the ball out from the back and it helps us a lot.”

Barca won the weekend game 2-0, to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

“We are on 15 points from a possible 15, it is spectacular and with Madrid dropping points too. We have to stay on course.”
