Simeone thinks only of the present

Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone has stressed the club hope to continue to be competitive in La Liga and Europe while improving everyday.

Atletico are unbeaten in all competitions to date this season with victories over Athletic Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano coupled with a stalemate with Levante on the opening day of La Liga.

The Madrid-based outfit has also defeated Chelsea and Hapoel Tel Aviv in European outings so far.

Ahead of his side hosting Real Valladolid on Sunday evening, Argentine tactician Simeone spoke about the importance of the club’s future in his Press conference today.

“That the general public have good feelings about this team is healthy, positive and good. What we have done is the past, however, what is important is now and the future.

“We are happy when our supporters are happy, but we live the reality, which is today. We hope to be more competitive and improve game by game. That is the way we will move forward.”

The 42-year-old remained tight lipped about the starting XI that will take to the field at the Vicente Calderon, but is positive about the state of his squad and that of his opponents.

“We hope to play well tomorrow, it will be a great atmosphere and see the team perform as it has since we started the season. On Monday we will begin to think of what follows.

“Valladolid play very well, and have demonstrated in the last four games that they have played with prominence. They are a team that can play with the ball well in midfield, and pack it easily with lots of players.

“Omar gives them superiority in the middle when he opens up the play, Oscar has experience and Guerra is dangerous.”
