Ramos trains with Madrid reserves

Sergio Ramos is still working with the Real Madrid’s reserves after being dropped for the Champions League game with Manchester City.

According to AS, the Spanish international formed a central defensive pairing with Raul Albiol in training on Friday during a game that usually takes place among players who will start on the bench the following match.

Boss Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff normally have in mind their starting line-up two days before any game and with Los Blancos taking on Rayo Vallecano on Saturday things look ominous for Ramos.

It was the second day in a row the former Sevilla defender has worked with the reserves and Mourinho has responded to what he believes have been poor performances from him in games against Sevilla, Getafe, Granada and Barcelona.

Ramos’ replacement Rafael Varane turned in a superb performance against City and everything points to him once again being on the bench, although it is still far from certain.

Mourinho would like to see the 26-year-old return to the form he showed last season, when he was a starter in 51 games, although the Portuguese is understood to consider his displays since returning from Euro 2012 to have been well below par.
