Rayo won’t change for Real

Roberto Roman Triguero ‘Tito’ has promised that Rayo Vallecano will continue to play as they always do, when welcoming Real Madrid to Vallecas on Sunday.

The Madrid minnows welcome their more illustrious neighbours in Week 5 three points and six positions ahead of them in the table.

Even if Real are in the same form that saw them beat Manchester City in midweek, defender Tito is enthusiastic for facing them with a positive mindset.

“We will see an alert Rayo, who will compete for the game, rather than to speculate,” he told reporters today.

“If we went in with another mentality then it is best not to play, and already we have our hopes for next weekend. Rayo will always go out to win and even more so at home. It may be for better or worse, but we will always go for the game.

“We hope for the strongest Real Madrid, the one who player in the Champions League against Manchester City. It is true that in the League they have not enjoyed consistency in their games, but with the passage of playing games, they will find their style of play again.

“They would play the same no matter who they play, because Real Madrid is one of the best teams in the world with extraordinary players. Playing without Sergio Ramos against City was a significant absence, but they played in the same way in the game anyway.

“We want to play as we did last year. Admittedly the job was too much at the Santiago Bernabeu last year, but at home we made it not so easy and I think we deserved something more. We have to do a good job in pressurising, keeping up with the play and finding our players when attacking.”

Tito was asked about his work under new Coach Paco Jemez, which includes the full-back being used in three-man defence.

“Paco sees every game the same, he is hard working and likes to do things well. this week we have been watching a video of the last match against Atletico to correct our errors.

“As for his decision to play with three defenders, it is the Coach who decides and we accept it. Whether we like it or not, we have played well in it. For Casado and me, we’re full-backs and it is a bit more complicated because we have to work more as centre-backs, but in the games we have played, we have not done so badly in positioning.”
