Real Betis came away with all three points at Real Valladolid, but they left it late thanks to Ruben Castro’s 88th-minute winner.

It was the visitors who had the better of the first half, but the teams went in at the break scoreless.

Just as the game appeared to be heading towards a 0-0 result, Los Beticos’ Ruben Castro popped up with two minutes to go to net his 50th career goal for the club and earn them all three points.

However, controversy surrounded the award of the goal, as Castro was originally offside and appeared to then gain an advantage when scoring after Valladolid's 'keeper Jaime Jimenez failed to keep hold of the ball.

The result lifts Pepe Mel's side into the top half of the table, with a game in hand with Atletico Madrid still to come later this month.
