Malaga Coach Manuel Pellegrini has stressed that his side’s 3-1 triumph over Levante today carries significance for the team.
“Overall it was an important victory over a tough opponent,” recalled the former Real Madrid tactician to reporters post-match.
“Levante are a very skilled team who know how to sit back and defend while also being able to finish clinically on the counter-attack.
“We have shown that we have the ability in us to score three goals, however.”
Hours after complaining about the fact it was impossible to play at the Estadio Rosaleda nor in Sevilla at four o’clock because of the heat, the 58-year-old admitted his side will at least be mentally prepared for the midweek Champions League challenge.
“The team will arrive emotionally ready for Tuesday, and will prove their worth against Zenit St. Petersburg over the 90 minutes.”
