Armenteros ready for Osasuna bow

Emiliano Armenteros says he is finally ready to make his long-awaited Osasuna debut after recovering from a thigh injury.

The Argentine strike, who joined the Madrid team this summer from Sevilla after spending the last two seasons on loan at Rayo Vallecano, insists he cannot wait to get started for Paco Jemez’s side.

“I feel good. I’ve been training for the past two weeks and, although I’m just short of physical fitness, I’m available for selection,” the 26-year-old told a Press conference.

Armenteros played in last Friday’s friendly with Real Sociedad, scoring the equalising goal, and feels he is up to the task of playing a full 90 minutes again.

“I felt really comfortable against Real. Yes, I was a little tired but I found it okay and I’m ready to play again.

“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve missed three games and that’s a long time for me. I’ll work hard for the team because attacking players need to create chances and I hope I can help with that.”

Finally, Armenteros went on to praise the Osasuna fans and said he knows what it feels like to be a member of the opposition at the Reyno de Navarra.

“I saw the game with Barcelona and it was very impressive. I know what it is like to be an opponent here and for a rival player it is pressure that he feels and is real.”
