Pellegrino bowled over by Los Che fans

Valencia boss Mauricio Pellegrino says he has been bowled over by the fans since his appointment as boss at Mestalla.

Pellegrino is a former Valencia player and, while recognising it is difficult to go from being on the pitch to taking charge, believes hard work will allow him to cement a place in the club’s history.

“I’m going to put all my energy into putting together a team that will transcend history,” Pellegrino told a meeting at the headquarters of the L’Agrupacio de Penyes supporters club.

“In my playing days I only had to worry about myself, training, and the hours I worked, although I still lived for football with much intensity.

“Now, however, I’m responsible not only for the players but also the club’s image, besides forming a team and attending to most details of what is an institution.

“The Valencia fans have bowled me over since my arrival and the only thing left now is to show it on the pitch,” said Pellegrino, before asking supporters to trust in him and the team to get three points against Celta Vigo this weekend to kick-start the season.
