Ramos: Georgia made it difficult

Sergio Ramos believed Georgia’s negative approach to the game made it difficult for Spain in their World Cup qualifier in Tbilisi.

A Roberto Soldado strike four minutes from time saved the World and European champions’ blushes, but Real Madrid defender Ramos claimed it was the defensive tactics adopted by Temuri Ketsbaia’s team that made it an uncomfortable evening for La Roja.

“We did not know how they would come out, but we all saw their defensive approach and that that made things very difficult. In addition, the state of the pitch did not suit our style of play,” he told assembled media afterwards.

Nonetheless, Ramos claimed he was not surprised by the Georgian strategy.
“When a team has respect for you then that is how they play, but you can’t live in the past and we have to carry on winning,” he added.
