Atletico Madrid will be congratulated for their UEFA Super Cup win last month with a visit to see the country’s King Juan Carlos.
AS report that a delegate of club officials led by Enrique Cerezo will be received by Don Juan Carlos I next Monday at around 6.30pm local time.
The King will reportedly congratulate the team personally for their success, much as he has done with the Spanish national team after recent successes and various other sportspeople, such as the Spanish Olympic team, tennis player Rafael Nadal and Moto GP’s Jorge Lorenzo.
Thanks to a Radamel Falcao hat-trick, Diego Simeone’s Atleti defeated Chelsea 4-1 on August 31 to pick up the trophy.
