4.5m tuned in for Georgia-Spain

A television audience share of 39.2 per cent was recorded on Tuesday evening in Spain for the national team’s 1-0 win over Georgia.

For La Roja’s opening match in their Group I qualification group for the 2014 World Cup, an average audience of 4,472,000 tuned in, according to figures released today.

Vicente del Bosque’s men struggled to break through against their Tbilisi hosts, until an 86th-minute winner from Roberto Soldado secured the points.

The final few minutes of the encounter proved to be when the peak audience was recorded, with a 7,010,000 figure confirmed at that time, equating to a 46.6 per cent audience share.
