Soldado: At least Spain won

Roberto Soldado has reflected that whilst Spain struggled to break through against Georgia in Tbilisi on Tuesday night, that at least they eventually did.

The Valencia man’s first goal for his country four minutes from time proved the difference against a stubborn and organised opposition defence.

“It was a hard-fought victory against a team that gave us the ball and sat back to occupy their area,” reflected the forward post-match.

“We have had few chances to score, but the important thing is that we took those few and fortunately we did.

“It was frustrating because in the penalty area we were continually surrounded and there was no room to move. I had to move as much as I could so that I could move my marker.”
