Rijkaard: Spain impress everyone

Former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard believes Spain impress fans the world over after the 5-0 win over his Saudi Arabia team.

The Dutchman, in charge of the Middle East state for just over 12 months, could not hide his admiration for Vicente Del Bosque’s men after the game.

“I have never seen a national team playing as well and creating so many chances. Spain impress the entire world,” he told reporters.

Nonetheless, Rijkaard, who won a Champions League and two La Liga titles with Barca, did not want to make comparisons with the Blaugrana team he coached and the current Spain side.

“I don’t want to compare them. Besides, they have Xavi [Hernandez] and [Andres] Iniesta, who are among the best players in the world and key to any team.”

Against about the game, Rijkaard admitted that it had been a fair result.

“Spain deservedly won, but that was something I expected. We were playing against the best team in the world and the result was the right one.”
