Cesc: Criticism exaggerated

Cesc Fabregas has hit out at the criticism being levelled at his recent form and reiterated his commitment to have ‘a long career’ at Barcelona.

The former La Masia student, who returned to the Camp Nou last summer from Arsenal, is currently undergoing a difficult spell on the pitch.

His form has been criticised and has prompted rumours of a fall-out with the Coach and a possible switch out of the club in January. However, the player is nonplussed by the coverage.

“Everything that is being said is exaggerated. Some sections of the Press are even inventing that fans have been whistling me,” he told Catalunya Radio.

“I’m the first to know that I’m alright. I’m very positive. My efforts are not in vain.”

He spoke also of his determination to stay with Barcelona.

“I have always believed in my gut. I went at 16 thinking it was the best thing to do and when I came back I did so knowing that it would be to compete amongst the best in the world.

“I wasn’t scared. I want to retire at the Camp Nou.

“I did my best to get back here and it wasn’t to just have a year at the club, but to have a long career here.”
