Pereira: Stop talking about Ronaldo

Portugal teammate Joao Pereira has urged reporters to stop speculating on what might be making Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo unhappy.

The No 7 revealed after Real’s weekend win over Granada that he did not celebrate his goals because he was unhappy. Midweek saw this followed up with an assertion that the issue at the club is not about money.

It has caused a lot of speculation, much to the irritation of Valencia’s right-back Pereira, who was asked about Ronaldo today, with the pair both in Portugal’s squad preparing for upcoming fixtures.

“It’s a problem that occurs a lot in Portugal. We like to talk about the lives of others…but when no-one knows what is going on, it is better to keep quiet,” reflected the full-back to today’s conference.

“We’re all calm in the camp and focused on a pretty important game. We want to start this phase of qualifying for the World Cup well. We are here as the squad, let’s talk about what is important to the team.”
