Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has reflected that his club would ‘always have been satisfied’ with the Champions League draw handed them.
For the group stages, the Blaugrana face Benfica, Spartak Moscow and Celtic in Group G, which has left Zubizarreta smiling.
“We were always going to be satisfied with that draw,” the former goalkeeper reflected. “I think as a football fan, of the stands full of passion, with different styles to test us. It will be an interesting group to begin with.
“Real Madrid have a very difficult group. It is always a risk when teams like Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are not seeded.
“But, Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid are ready to play against anybody.”
The director also briefly commented on Ibrahim Afellay’s talks with Schalke.
“We are very close to a conclusion. Discussions are ongoing and we will announce something tonight.”
