After confirming that he is considering an offer from Sampdoria, Enzo Maresca has been dropped from Malaga’s squad this weekend, but Eliseu is included.
The 32-year-old Maresca has been continually linked this summer with a return to Serie A, with newly-promoted Samp keen admirers.
After helping Malaga defeat Panathinaikos in midweek, the midfielder admitted that the Italian club have made an offer to him, which he remained ‘undecided’ about.
Coach Manuel Pellegrini has taken a decision for him, though, by dropping him from the squad to face Mallorca tonight for, reportedly, ‘technical reasons’.
Reports in Spain believe that a move to Samp could be completed within the next couple of days.
However, winger Eliseu, who was reported in Portugal last night to be on the verge of a transfer to Benfica, is named in the squad for the late kick-off. Young striker Fabrice Olinga is also called up again.
