Eliseu surmised that Malaga’s inability to hold on to a three-goal lead against Osasuna was down to losing control of the game.
In Sunday evening’s Copa del Rey Round of 32 first leg, the Anchovies had moved into a healthy advantage thanks to goals from Sergio Sanchez, Vitorino Antunes and Juanmi.
However, goals from Roberto Torres, Manuel Omwu and then Emiliano Armenteros, even with the equaliser coming after Osasuna were reduced to 10 men, saw the match end 3-3.
“We had the match under control at the end of the first half, and then should have sealed our victory when we were 3-0 up,” mused Eliseu afterwards.
“However it wasn’t to be, and within 10-15 minutes we lost control of the game completely.
“The match was ours to win and then suddenly the rival took the reins.
“They scored a strange first goal and from then on things got much more difficult for us and we lost our confidence.”
